The murder of an 80-year-old woman that occurred six months ago in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Villa Lugano has been solved, with the arrest of the two perpetrators following a series of raids in the Buenos Aires towns of Laferrere and Saladillo.
The incident began on April 4th, when Fire Department personnel responded to a house fire. Upon entering, they found the victim "bound and dead".
The investigation, led by the Homicide Division of the Department of Crimes Against Persons, with the direct involvement of the National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 11, Section No. 133, "managed to determine the existence of three intentional fire points to conceal the homicide".
Based on a meticulous review of security cameras, both public and private, investigators identified a white car from which two men got out and entered the house moments before the fire started.
By analyzing these images and conducting "exhaustive fieldwork", it was determined that one of the suspects was a Paraguayan national neighbor who "used to visit the victim and take advantage of her trust to enter with the intention of robbing her".
After committing the crime, the attackers "attempted to stage an accident by setting the fire".
Finally, the field operations carried out by the City Police allowed them to locate the vehicle used and one of the suspects in a residence in Gregorio de Laferrere, in the Province of Buenos Aires. The second accomplice, who had remained at large, was subsequently located in the town of Saladillo, also in the Province of Buenos Aires, and his arrest was made with the cooperation of the local police.
Both suspects were arrested and are at the disposal of the Justice for the crime of "homicidis causa". On that occasion, it was specified that after robbing and beating her, the woman died.
